Job Summary

As a Children’s Services Senior Support Worker, your role will involve providing leadership and support to a team of support workers in a children’s services setting.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Leading and supervising a team of support workers, ensuring the delivery of high-quality care and support to children and young people.
  2. Assessing the needs of children and young people and developing individualised care plans.
  3. Monitoring and documenting the progress and development of children and young people, identifying any concerns or areas for improvement.
  4. Providing direct care and support to children and young people, including assistance with daily living activities, emotional support, and behavioural management.
  5. Collaborating with other professionals, such as social workers, psychologists, and educators, to ensure coordinated care and support.
  6. Participating in case conferences and team meetings to discuss and review the progress of children and young people
  7. Advocating for the rights and well-being of children and young people, promoting their safety, dignity, and inclusion.
  8. Providing guidance and training to support workers, facilitating their professional development and ensuring adherence to policies and procedures.
  9. Maintaining accurate and up-to-date records and documentation, ensuring compliance with legal and regulatory requirements.
  10. Promoting a positive and nurturing environment for children and young people, fostering their growth, resilience, and independence.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Minimum of one year of experience in a similar role in children’s services.
  • Diploma or equivalent in a relevant field, such as Child and Youth Care, Social Work, Psychology, or Education.
  • Strong leadership and supervisory skills, with the ability to motivate and support a team.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with children, young people, and their families.
  • Knowledge of child development, trauma-informed care, and relevant legislation and regulations.
  • Ability to assess and respond to the individual needs and challenges of children and young people
  • Empathy, compassion, and a genuine interest in the well-being and development of children and young people.
  • First Aid and CPR certification (preferred but if not training is provided).
